Another slow start by the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad could not keep the Panthers from another win as Knoxville downed Oskaloosa last night 52-37 while the boys controlled the Indians from the outset to post a 65-43 victory in games heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The girls could only muster four points at the end of eight minutes and 15 by halftime but still led at both stops. Knoxville stepped up the offense and turned up the defensive pressure on Oskaloosa forcing numerous turnovers. Ashley Hawkshead had a career night with 24 points to lead all scorers. Meanwhile, the Panther boys never trailed and had total control in their 22 point win. Trent Davis led a balanced attack with 14 points while Chase Larson had ten. Coach Jeff Larson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he likes the way the guys are sharing the wealth. Unofficially, the Panthers only turned the ball over four times to Oskaloosa’s 20. The boys are 2-0 while the girls go to 3-0 and both teams will turn their attention to Clarke for the home opener on Tuesday.
