It was the equivalent of an ice cold bucket of water being dumped on your head. The Pella High girls’ basketball team suffered a sobering loss at the hands of number-two ranked Carlisle last night, 81 – 46. The Lady Dutch allowed the Wildcats to score 20-plus points in each of the first three quarters, and Carlisle shot better than 60% for the game from the field, including a 10-for-11 effort in the third period. Jessica Holterhaus led Pella with 12 points as they drop to 1 – 1 on the season. On the boys’ side, the Little Dutch also got off to a slow start, but stormed back and thumped Carlisle, 69 – 53. Isaac Naaktgeboren threw in 22 points, and Will Warner had 15 for Pella. The Little Dutch are 1 – 0, and both Pella teams begin conference play next on Friday at home against Dallas Center – Grimes.
