It was an offensive struggle for the Melcher-Dallas basketball clubs last night. The girls fell to Mormon Trail, 40 – 29; Jenny Petersen punched in 12 points and Megan Roush had ten for the now 3 – 4 Saints. Melcher’s boys had a double-digit lead in the second half, but couldn’t hold on in a 55 – 39 loss. Chase Wetterling scored 14 for the game. The Saints’ boys are now 0 – 6. Melcher-Dallas plays Seymour tomorrow night. Twin Cedars’ girls fell short to Murray, 56 – 28. Coach Malloree Grove tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that her team looked intimidated against the Mustangs. Shyanne Denburger scored 13 for the Sabers, who fall to 2 – 5. Twin Cedars’ boys rebounded after a pair of tough losses to bounce Murray, 73 – 59. Three Saber players stood out offensively, led by Cam Arkema’s 26, Trenton Bacus’ 20, and Otis Roby’s 19. Twin Cedars improves to 4 – 3, and both teams get back at it on Friday against Ankeny Christian Academy.
