It was slow going for the Pella High boys’ basketball team’s offense after a few games. The Little Dutch were still getting used to having their full squad after a Class 3A state championship football season. The offense is what lacked for Pella early on, with 69 points in a win versus Carlisle, and just 47 in a loss to Dallas Center – Grimes. However, the defense was as stingy as ever as the offense was starting to gather momentum. Coach Mark Core says there are a few reasons they’ve been able to find the bottom of the nylon much more often as of late. Pella is now averaging close to 77 points per game offensively, while the defense is giving up under 56. The 5 – 2 Pella boys are off until January 5 when they play at Ankeny Christian Academy.
