With the end of the year coming this week, that means tax season isn’t far behind.

CPA Brett Nikkel with Van Maanen, Sietstra, Meyer & Nikkel says there’s still time to impact your overall income before the tax season starts. He says any charitable donation or equipment purchased and placed in service by todaywill count as deductions on the 2014 return that will be filed next spring. He says many people will see their first W-2 or 1099 forms coming back next week, and says if you plan to make an end of year purchase by the 31st, he says to be patient with filing your return. Nikkel adds that this is a good time of year to organize all documentation for tax preparation from the previous year.
