Two very close games did not go Central’s way last night, as the men’s and women’s basketball teams fell to Buena Vista at home. The women’s game went to overtime, where the Dutch fell, 64 – 61. Mariah Swartzentruber hit a game-tying three with about 30 seconds left in regulation which sent it to the extra period. Central got out to a three point lead in overtime, before the Beavers went on a 9 – 2 run to take control. Swartzentruber finished with 12, and Kenzie Vander Molen had 16 points and nine assists. The Dutch women fall to 9 – 7 on the season and are now 0 – 5 in the conference. Central’s men also had their game come down to the wire, but they, too, wound up losing, 69 – 67. Nile Eckermann put down a game-high 21 points, and Colby Taylor punched in 13. Central’s men fall to 9 – 7 and are now 2 – 3 in the league. They are back at home on Saturday again for two games with Coe.
