With the amount of phone calls he’s been probably taking, this reporter wouldn’t be surprised if he got called up for the Chicago Bears’ defensive coordinator position. Central football defensive coordinator, Don De Waard, will get to serve as the defensive line coach for the U.S. Select Team in the International Bowl in Arlington, Texas, on January 31. The U.S. Select Team is comprised of 57 high school players from around the country, and they are tasked with taking on the International Federation of American Football World Team, comprised of athletes and coaches from over ten countries. The game will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, home of the Dallas Cowboys. De Waard just recently was the head coach of Team Stars and Stripes for the Bowl of the Stars for the third straight year, and this fall, he’s expected to begin his 34th season as a part of the Dutch football coaching staff.
