Central College alum and tennis standout, Kyle Freischlag, was awarded the 2013-14 Duane Schroeder Iowa Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award yesterday. The award is given to a student-athlete that demonstrated high levels of accomplishment and achievements in and out of the classroom and field of play. A nominee must have graduated during the year the award is given, and must have achieved at least a 3.50 GPA, and show evidence of service and leadership. Freischlag graduated with a major in history and biology to go along with a Spanish minor, and carried a 3.86 GPA. He is the fifth Central alum to earn this award in its 15-year history.
