The rest and relaxation week over after Christmas, the Pella High boys’ basketball team got back to work in a unique way this past Monday. With time away from school and from the gym, kids are liable to put on a pound or two while they are enjoying that “R & R” they get during the break in action. Coaches know this, and so they expect a bit of rust when their athletes hit the hardwood for the first time in almost a week. Coach Mark Core says the challenge to get the guys back in gear was a little tougher, as they had a different kind of practice to begin the week. Core adds that scrimmaging teams like Ankeny Centennial and Des Moines Hoover should prove to be beneficial as they’ll be facing similar physical attributes in height and size in Norwalk, Dallas Center – Grimes, and Grinnell in 2015.
