Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars had their first go-around of the season and played to a split yesterday evening. The Saints’ girls edged the Sabers, 39 – 31. Kaylee Houston had 14 points, 15 rebounds, and five steals for Melcher-Dallas, and Liz Rowley scored nine for Twin Cedars. The Saber boys blew out the Saints in the nightcap, 79 – 42. Cam Arkema had a monster 37-point output, and Otis Roby tallied 21. For the girls, the Saints are now 5 – 7, the Sabers fall to 3 – 8; the Saints’ boys drop to 0 – 11, and the Sabers swell to 5 – 7. Twin Cedars is at Orient-Macksburg next on Friday, and Melcher-Dallas will play at Moulton-Udell.
