Clutch free throws by freshman, Kelsee Van Haalen, helped Pleasantville’s girls defeat Albia inside the gym last night, 56 – 52. Van Haalen hit four shots from the charity stripe down the stretch to clinch the win. She ended up with 22 points, Kennedy Core scored 18, and Bailey Oliva added 14. The Pleasantville boys unfortunately did not have the same result, and they dropped to the Blue Demons, 63 – 60. Josh Luna led all Trojans’ scorers with 18, and Trever Zoss put up 14, as they see their season-high, six-game winning streak come to an end, and they fall to 10 – 6, and the girls improve to 4 – 13. Both teams are yet again on the road to take on Lenox later on tonight.
