Another night, another clean sweep for the Pella basketball teams as the girls won 59-51 and the boys won 97-60 over Newton on 92.1 KRLS yesterday. The girls were able to clinch the Little Hawkeye Conference championship in a close battle with the Cardinals at home. Katie Vander Molen had 19 points, and Jessica Holterhaus hit two big shots in the final period to help the Lady Dutch pull away and earn the win. The number one boys dismantled Newton with their best offensive effort of the season and earned at least a share of the conference title. Pella High hit 11 threes and had eight players with seven points or more, including 19 from Isaac Naagkteboren and 13 from Grant Judkins. Assistant Coach Jim Dingeman says nights like Tuesday highlight the dangerous depth they possess as a team. This marks the 14th consecutive doubleheader sweep for Pella, who look to make it 15 in a row when they wrap up conference play against Oskaloosa on Friday.
