Coaches versus Cancer night was a big success attendance wise for Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars yesterday. On the basketball court, it was all Sabers, as they beat their rivals in their final games of the regular season. Twin Cedars’ gals came back from a huge third-quarter deficit to beat Melcher-Dallas, 51 – 42. The Saints held a ten point lead going into the final frame, but a quick 8 – 0 run got the Sabers back into it. Megan Roush dumped in 23 big points for the Saints. Melcher’s boys had their highest offensive output of the season, but it was the Sabers’ Otis Roby that stole the show, and Twin Cedars went on to win, 82 – 65. Otis Roby had 40 points and 18 rebounds for his Sabers, just nine points shy of the school record for most in a game. All four teams are done until the postseason tournaments; the girls play tomorrow in the first round of the regionals, and the boys are off until next week for the districts.
