Coming into their last few days down in Tucson, the Central softball team won both of their contests yesterday in Arizona. The day started with a narrow 2 – 0 shutout of Wisconsin – La Crosse. The Dutch put up single runs in the first and fourth innings, and that’s all pitcher Mallory Schulenberg would need, allowing just six hits and three walks in seven shutout innings. Abbey Strajack was 3-for-3 at the plate, and reigning Iowa Conference female athlete of the week, Karlee Rock, was 2-for-3 and had the game’s lone RBI with a solo blast in the fourth. Central again got out to a fast start against Puget Sound, defeating them, 7 – 3. The Dutch cranked out ten hits, three off the bat of Abbie Voas, who hit her first home run of the season. Central improves to 11 – 4 overall, and they’ll take on Pacific Lutheran and Valley City State for their two games later tonight.
