It wasn’t her best stuff, but Mallory Schulenberg helped Central’s softball team win two in front of their home crowd in Pella yesterday over Gustavus Adolphus. The Dutch won 5 -3 and 9 – 5, respectively. The Golden Gusties continued their first-inning dominance, getting out to a quick lead in both games, but Central would respond each time, with a three-run outburst in the second frame of game one, thanks to an Abbey Strajack two-run double. Schulenberg scattered 11 hits, allowing only two runs and two walks in the first game. She pitched two-and-two-thirds of relief in the capper, only allowing one hit. Schulenberg threw 150 pitches in the twinbill. The Dutch also scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning of game two, which were the first runs allowed by Golden Gusties pitching in the first inning this season. Central improves to 16 – 5, and they have another doubleheader at home today, taking on Saint Benedict and Saint Norbert starting at 1:00 p.m.
