Battling the weather, Central’s women’s golf team fell by 70 strokes to Wartburg yesterday in a head-to-head tournament at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames. The Dutch carded a 399 for the day, and they were led by Christine Ausman’s round of 97. Valorie Taylor, a freshman, golfed for the team as an individual, and put up a team-best 91. Central’s men began their run through the Iowa Conference tournament yesterday, but play was suspended due to the weather in Iowa City. David Watson was the only Dutch to finish his round, while the others were on the back nine. The rest of the field will conclude their first round action, and then begin round two shortly thereafter. Tee-off is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
