City Council

The Pella City Council tabled an ordinance on Tuesday that would require the planting of trees and shrubs on new single and double housing developments.
City Administrator Mike Nardini says it was originally proposed due to a diminishing number of trees in the community and recommendations from last summer’s Pella in Bloom visit. The ordinance was based on existing code for businesses and industries and by tree-planting rules established in Indianola. Nardini says the council will hold a joint meeting with the Planning and Zoning Commission–who voted against the measure 6 to 3, to find a solution that would be more agreeable.
