As part of accepting the facilities assessment Monday, the Knoxville School Board also agreed that East Elementary would be sold.

This will displace students who are currently going there as part of G.O.A.L. Alternative High School and move them to Knoxville High School.
Superintendent Cassi Murra talked about the decision.saying utility bills for East Elementary alone cost over $45,000 annually. The district also has to pay for insurance on the property and custodial services. Murra feels spreading that money out over the entire school district would have a better impact on education.
One parent argued that a reason many G.O.A.L. students like to attend classes at East is because they don’t encounter others they may know from when they left school previously.
