It was a rough Tuesday for the Central baseball team. Going up against the bottom of the conference, the Dutch split their doubleheader with Simpson, winning game one 9 – 3, but losing the nightcap, 9 – 1. Much like their previous meet-ups, Central capitalized on a bevy of Storm errors, four to be exact, to score nine runs on nine hits. Central’s nine runs all came after Simpson scored three in the first two innings. Dakotah Wolken went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and Zach Zylstra had a pair of hits, including his 11th double of the season, and he also drove in two. Simpson’s Matt Pennings held Central to just three hits in game two, and tossed a complete game. Kirby Coppess recorded Central’s lone RBI, a solo home run in the fourth, his second of the year. The Dutch are now 13 – 18 overall and 9 – 11 in the conference. They take on Luther this Friday and Saturday up in Decorah.
