Budget targets for fiscal year 2016 were set in the Iowa Senate last week.
State Senator Ken Rozenboom says Senate Democrats set their target at just over $7.1 billion, which will add $180 million in new spending next year. He says House Republicans will likely reveal their goals this week. Rozenboom says finances are far from settled this fiscal year, with school funding causing a major sticking point between both parties. He says more than $200 million in additional Medicaid costs have caused the lower proposals for state supplemental aid from the Republican party.
