Lydia VanEe broke a school record in the 100 hurdles and the Pella High girls’ track and field team defeated a seven team field at the Grinnell relays yesterday. The Lady Dutch had 167.5 points, with the host Tigers winding up in second with 104. VanEe clocked in at 15.66 seconds, seven-tenths of a second better than Jacey Huinker from Southeast Polk. Other noteworthy performances include Annika Pingel and Emily Vos going 1-2 in the 200 meter dash, Mackenzie Gustafson won the 400 meter dash, and the 4 x 400, 800, and sprint medley relay teams all took the gold. Pella Christian’s girls were also in attendance at Grinnell. Miranda Nikkel was third in the shot put, and the sprint medley relay team was second. Pella’s boys were second in their meet at South Tama, five points behind Cedar Rapids Prairie. Chase Van Sant was second in the long jump, Ben Warner was the runner-up in the 1600, while Garret Jansen took the silver in both the discus and the shot put. Results for both Pella teams are below.
