There’s just one more chance for area athletes to get events qualified for the infamous blue oval at Drake Stadium for the Drake Relays next week. The deadline for qualifying for the Des Moines spectacular is midnight tonight, and the Pella High girls’ track and field team is at Newton to try to get a few more Lady Dutch names inked into the statewide affair. With several talented teams in attendance at the home of the Cardinals, Coach Dak Rasmussen says Tuesday’s meet at Pella Christian was a good warm-up to prepare his girls for battles in every event this evening. Today’s meet is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Pella’s boys are in Waukee, and they’ll also get going at 4:30.
