The home opener for the Pella Christian boys’ soccer team was full of dramatics, but the Eagles prevailed over Newton in overtime yesterday, 3 – 2. PC got out to a 2 – 0 lead with goals from Davi Simoes, and Gabriel Soler. Coach Gerrit Brouwer tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that good execution led to the early scores. A bit of nervous play by the Eagles in the second half allowed Newton to tie things up at two by the end of regulation, before Alex Pringle scored the game-winner in the second half of overtime to win it. The victory is the second of the season for PC in as many games, who have already eclipsed last year’s win total, and they’ll try to tack on a third with a challenge on the road against Albia this Friday.
