The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved the rezoning of a section of land along Highway 5 near Attica from residential to commercial ag, so the owner could build an ag trucking business on the property.

The approval came despite opposition brought up by some residents during a public hearing on the matter. Residents who live near the proposed site say they were worried about traffic and noise issues, as well as chemical storage. They also believe that the business will devalue their properties and that zoning is designed to protect the people.
Landowner Rich Goff says the DOT didn’t express any traffic safety issues and there wouldn’t be any chemical storage on the premises.
Both Supervisors Jim Kingery and Craig Agan were in favor of the project, with Agan stating he appreciates the small business investment being made in Marion County.
