A Monroe man has been sentenced after he was involved in a domestic dispute last month.
Twenty-nine year old Joshua Steven Nelson faces 10 years in prison after he pled guilty to charges of 2nd degree arson, a class C felony and domestic abuse assault – strangulation. Nelson also entered a guilty plea to a charge for violating his sex offender registry last November, which will be served concurrently with this sentence. He is in custody at Jasper County Jail for a hearing next week after he violated his probation. He could face an additional five years of prison after he received a suspended sentence last year following a guilty plea to charges of failing to register as a sex offender in Jasper County in 2013.
