The PCM soccer teams are off to a slow start, but they hope for the pace to pick up tonight for a pair of showdowns on the pitch. Coach Bill Sowder was happy with how his girls played in a 3 – 0 loss on Tuesday to Des Moines Hoover, and they’ll be at C-M-B this evening for a conference match. The Heart of Iowa Conference will be a difficult gamut to run through, according to Sowder, but he’s convinced his girls will be out there to make a game of every match. Varsity kick-off for the girls’ game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Mustang boys will stay in Monroe to host Chariton. PCM is 0 – 3 right now, and the team is still very young after losing a double-digit amount of seniors. Coach Darin Telfer says there is some talented youth on the team, but that transition from middle school to high school varsity soccer is something those freshmen are trying to get used to. The boys’ varsity match against the Chargers tonight is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
