Pella Christian’s girls’ soccer team did all they could on defense, but the mighty Pella girls proved to be too much, defeating the Eagles, 10 – 0 in the 70″ yesterday. The Lady Dutch had numerous shots, many of them on goal, and they were able to get six by goalkeeper, Julia Dykstra, who played an outstanding game, despite the barrage of black-and-white coming her way. Katie Vander Molen had a hat trick, and Kayla Langstraat had two. Ciara Buchheit scored a goal against a team that is coached by her father, and she says not much changes on or off the pitch. Eagles’ Coach, Mike Buchheit, says Ciara is just one of many talented players Pella has. Coach Mark Howard was happy with how the offense executed despite the sometimes stingy Eagle “D.” Pella improves to 6 – 0 and they are 2 – 0 in the conference, while the Eagles drop to 1 – 6, and are 0 – 3 in the league. PC plays Chariton tomorrow, and the Lady Dutch have a big tournament against tough and ranked opponents on Saturday at Nevada.
