Battling through less-than-ideal conditions, Pella Christian, Pleasantville, and PCM’s boys’ and girls’ track teams all had impressive showings at the latter’s home meet yesterday in Monroe. PCM’s girls placed second as a team, score 132 points. Thirteen of the 19 events held, the Mustangs had someone in the top three. Grace Telfer took the win in the shot put and discus, and Rachel Peter crossed the finish line first in the 1500 and 3000. Maverick McAtee won the mile with a time of 4:58 for the PCM boys, and the Mustangs set a personal record of 1:03.7 in the shuttle hurdle relay to place second. They scored 77 points as a team, good for fifth.
The Eagles’ girls had many top three performances, as well. They took first in the sprint medley relay, coming in at just over two minutes, the 4 x 100 meter relay team was second, and Sarah Meyer was runner-up in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Jacob Lensing was first for the Eagle boys in the 3200, and Jon Larson had the third longest jump in the field events.
The relay teams showed Coach Gabe Bakker some promise for Pleasantville’s boys’ track. The Trojans crossed the line second in the 4 x 400, and were third in the 4 x 100, 4 x 200, and in the sprint medley relays. The Trojans’ girls placed in all of the field events.
