John-Michael Zalcberg nailed the game winner with just under two minutes remaining in overtime to give Pella a 6-5 win over Knoxville in boy soccer last night. The match started out with four combined goals in the first 19 minutes with the score tied at two-all. Pella then nailed three goals, two by Christian Hamilton to give the Little Dutch a 5-2 halftime lead. But back stormed the Panthers with three goals in the last 16 minutes of regulation to force the extra time. Trent Davis and Alex Dye were the scoring punch for Knoxville. Pella Coach Mark Solomon told KNIA/KRLS Sports their focus was on Dye all night, but it may have allowed other players to have the limelight. Knoxville Coach Dylan Mick said his guys had a ton of resolve after being forced to play a man down due to an early red card. Will Warner had one goal for Pella while Hamilton tallied twice and Zalcberg had the hat trick and game winner. For Knoxville…Trent Davis had the hat trick and Alex Dye scored twice. Pella is now 8-2 on the season while Knoxville falls to 5-3.
