Prudential First of Knoxville Realty continues to operate, but not out of the building they occupy along the Knoxville Square.

That’s because it still hasn’t been deemed safe to occupy by the city, according to building owner Chris Hoegh.
The building was next to a county-owned property that was recently demolished and the two buildings shared a common wall that a structural engineer says that the wall suffered from deterioration and bad mortar. The report did not say there was damage done to the wall as a result of the demolition.
Hoegh let his frustration be known during the Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday saying he submitted a proposal for the county to either buy his building or pay for the wall at their expense.
The board could not comment on the matter because it was not an agenda item but said they would have to discuss the matter in a closed session.
The City of Knoxville is keeping the building closed at this time.
