A trio of seniors for three different Central athletic teams came away with weekly Iowa Conference honors, which were announced yesterday. Abbey Strajack broke a school record for career hits, going 12-for-17 at the dish last week to help Central win three-of-four. She leads the team with a .508 average, with 46 runs scored, 66 hits, and 18 stolen bases. Zach Zylstra helped the Dutch baseball team take 3-out-of-4 versus Luther on Sunday and Monday. Zylstra was named the conference baseball position player of the week. He went 12-for-24 in six games at the plate, driving in five runs. He’s the team leader in multiple categories, including a .382 batting average. Eric Larson, who recently returned from injury, was named the male athlete of the week and the men’s field performer of the week, after recording the top Division III decathlon mark of 6,770 points at the Drake Relays. Larson was also named the USTFCCCA Division III Men’s National Athlete of the Week for his Blue Oval performance.
