Now that the kids are out of school, area police departments are asking pedestrians and drivers to be extra vigilant.
Lt. Shane Cox with the Pella Police Department hopes that everyone can have a safe summer. Cox says that kids should wear helmets if they ride bikes, and to be aware of their surroundings when walking around town. He encourages drivers to be on the look out and to take extra time to get where they need to be. Cox asks parents to have a conversation with their kids about being safe pedestrians.
