The bird flu is having a large impact on Iowa’s agricultural sector as the disease spreads through the state’s egg operations.
State Senator Ken Rozenboom says Iowa is the nation’s leading egg producer, and that many flocks are being devastated. He says the bird flu will have substantial implications on employment and the economy. Rozenboom says legislators have meet many times with Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey and his staff, as well as the governor’s office to work out the logistics of the situation.
