Just five short days ago, the Central baseball team put the finishing touches on a four-game sweep of Loras to close out the regular season on a high note. Today, both schools will face-off once again, this time in the first round of the Iowa Conference tournament in Cedar Rapids. The Dutch concluded the regular season winning eight of their last ten, and primarily have used their pitching and mostly-reliable defense to earn the No. 3 seed in the league. In fact, Dylan Diveney was named to the D3baseball.com team of the week, after throwing ten innings of one-hit ball in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. Coach Matt Schirm says he’s taken an analytical approach to getting ready for the tournament. First pitch between the Dutch and Duhawks is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
