It was another exciting day for Class 3A area track and field athletes. Nathan Winters took home gold on Thursday in the Discus and repeated that trend on Friday winning his second state championship, this time in the shot put. Just like the day before, Garret Jansen was runner-up to Winters in the throwing event. Lydia VanEe was also a runner-up on Friday for Pella finishing second the 400 meter hurdles. The Pella girls finished fourth in the 4×200 meter relay final and also had the fastest qualifying time in the 4×400 meter relay prelims with a time of 3:59. Paighton Malek of Pella surprised the field in the Class 3A girls long jump, finishing second with a jump of 17-2.75. We will continue updates through finals today and you can find results at kniakrls.com.
