A good contingent of Pella Christian and PCM track faithful will make the jaunt up to Des Moines for the Class 2A portion of the boys’ and girls’ state track and field meet that starts today. The Eagles have four events that will run at state, though only one will go today, and that’s Christa Veenstra in the 400. At last Thursday’s state qualifying meet, each event that qualified knocked off seconds from their previous season-best time. Coach Kevin Herdegen says that has a lot to do with their schedule this year.
The 400 meter dash final will begin at around 1:20 p.m. PCM’s gals take eight events with them to state this week, the first of which will be Rachel Peter running in the 3000. PCM’s boys have the shuttle hurdle relay running today at around 2:00 p.m., while Skyler Coder will wait until tomorrow to compete in the high jump. Keep it tuned to KNIA and KRLS all day long for live reports each hour from our roving reporter in the field, Garrett Knock, live inside of Drake Stadium.
