PCM and Pella Christian’s girls had very successful nights at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, as each had multiple qualifiers to the state track and field meet next week. For the Eagles, the 4 x 100 meter relay team took first place, while the 4 x 200 and sprint medley relay squads were also in the top two and qualified for the Blue Oval. Christa Veenstra qualified her 400 meter run time as well. The Mustangs had a total of six events make it to state for sure. Among them are Rachel Peter in the 1500 and 3000, Jayci Vos in the 400 hurdles, and the 4 x 200 and 400 meter relay teams. Skyler Coder for PCM’s boys cleared the high jump bar at 6’2” and finished second. The Mustang girls were fourth as a team in points, and the boys were ninth. Results from the girls’ teams can be found by clicking below. Teams around the state will know for sure what qualified overall after all meets have been reported and times have been calculated. The state meet is at Drake Stadium next Thursday through Saturday. KNIA/KRLS Sports will be there live with up-to-the-minute updates as our athletes chase after state championships.
