Over at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Pella Christian and PCM’s track and field teams will hunker down and try to work their way through a tough field to get to Des Moines next Thursday-Saturday.
On the boys’ side, PCM’s Skylar Koder is among the top five in a handful of events, including the 110 high hurdles and the high jump. PCM’s shuttle hurdle relay team is currently fourth amongst teams in attendance tonight.
The Mustang girls are sitting pretty, with many hoping to make a return trip to state. Jayci Vos has nearly a three-second better time this season in the 400 hurdles than her closest competitor, Rachel Peter is at the top of the 1500 meter list and is second in the 3000, and the Mustang 4 x 100 and 200 meter relay teams also are preliminarily in the lead.
Pella Christian’s Sarah Meyer is second in the 100 meter dash, and the Eagles are second to PCM in both the 4 x 100 and 200 meter relays. Eagles’ coach, Kevin Herdegen, says it’s all about that place, about that place, no trouble.
Today’s state qualifier starts at 4:00 p.m.
