Fourteen batters and thirty minutes later, the Pella Christian softball team put up a nine-spot on West Marshall and wound up with a 15 – 0, five-inning victory to begin their 2015 season. Emma Schnell did everything to near perfection; she was the winning pitcher, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out eight in five innings, and she went 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs and two runs scored. The Eagles doled out a dozen hits in the win. The Pella Christian baseball team was able to enact a bit of revenge against the Albia team that ended their season last summer with their 7-6 walk-off winner last night. Head Coach Nate Johnson says despite allowing the Blue Demons back into the game a few times, he was proud of how his squad closed out the win in the bottom of the 7th. Mac Sarver drove in the winning run with a walk and catcher Scott Haveman was 2 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored. The Eagles will head on the road for their first away contest of the year against Iowa Christian Academy this evening, and the softball team plays host to Des Moines Christian on Friday.
