The 2015 Iowa High School State Track and Field meet got off to a nice start for both the Knoxville Panthers and Pella High. Nathan Winters was crowned the Class 3A State Champion in the discus with a winning throw of 173’5’’. Tanner Dunkin qualified for both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash finals with the second best time in the 100 and fastest qualifying time in the 200. Kendrea Richardson had the 5th fastest qualifying time in the girls Class 3A 200 meter dash with a time of 25.67. The Little and Lady Dutch track teams exploded off the starting blocks on Thursday. The Pella girls had the fastest qualifying time in the shuttle hurdle of 1:05.36 to advance to the finals. The Pella boys needed a final pass at the end from Payson Vande Lune to be runners-up in the 3A 4×800 meter relay. Garret Jansen had a strong showing in the discus finishing second with a throw of 172’9” and teammate Tyson Wassenaar finished sixth.
