A felony charge has been filed against a Knoxville man for allegedly headbutting his girlfriend.

Knoxville Police arrested 31-year-old Russell Messamaker for domestic abuse assault, 3rd offense.
According to court documents, Messamaker got into a loud domestic dispute at an apartment on 2nd Street around 8am Wednesday. The victim told police Messamaker got in her face then headbutted her.
A criminal history check showed Messamaker had a 2nd offense domestic assault conviction in 2008.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday.
