The sun was still up when the Pella High Tulip Time girls’ relays concluded last night, thanks in part to several fast times that were ran throughout the competition. Pella High’s girls decimated the competition, winning the larger schools division with 207 points, a whopping 116 more than second place Ottumwa and Newton. Lydia VanEe set a school record in two hurdle events: the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.37 seconds, and anchored the shuttle hurdle relay team that clocked in at 1:06.1. VanEe was .2 second off the mark in the 400 meter hurdles, but still took first place. Annika Pingel also set the school record in the 200 meter dash at 25.82 seconds. For Pella Christian, they took fifth place overall in the smaller schools division. Among top performances, Sarah Meyer was runner-up in the 100 meter dash, the 4 x 200 meter relay team took the silver, and Katie Larson was third in the long jump. PCM finished fourth in the larger schools class. Rachel Stafford was second in the 800, and Rachel Peter won both the 1500 and 3000 meter runs. For Twin Cedars, Maddie DeWit was fifth in the long jump, and Marisa Lundy set a new PR with a throw of 23’3″ in the shot put. Full results for all schools can be found by clicking below.
