The unemployment rate in Marion County saw a sharp decline from March to April.
According to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development, the rate dropped from 3.9 percent to 3.2 percent. Director of Iowa Workforce Development Beth Townsend says the numbers reflect a statewide increase in the workforce, despite a sluggish ag economy. Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 3.8 percent in April from 4.0 percent in March.
