The Knoxville Police Department will remember one of their own with a memorial service Thursday.

The service will honor fallen Knoxville Police Officer M. A. “Bert” Conrey, whose death over 77 years ago is now being recognized by the state of Iowa and the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C..
Officer Conrey, a 23 year veteran of the Knoxville PD, died on April 2nd, 1938, at the age of 56, as a result of injuries sustained during an assault by a couple on St. Patrick’s Day two weeks earlier.
The memorial service for Officer Conrey will be at the Knoxville Police Department beginning at 2pm.
