The Pella Track and Field teams once again dominated conference foes on the oval Monday night at Pella Christian High School. The boys earned their fourth consecutive conference title and the girls their sixth. Boys head coach Brent Van Hauen says the field squads scored 63 of the teams 192.5, which set the tone for the rest of the evening.
The boys earned medals in eight of their 18 events overall. Among conference champions include Garret Jansen in the shot put and discus, Payson VandeLune in the 800 (Pictured), and the Dutch 4 x 100, 200, and 800 meter relay teams. Lady Dutch head coach Dak Rasmussen says they set numerous conference records in the event, which showed off just how much talent and potential they have with qualifying meets looming.
The girls finished with 201 team points, and nine total first place finishes. Annika Pingel and Emily Vos finished 1-2 in the 200 meter dash, Lydia VanEe took the 100 hurdles to gold, and Pella’s 4 x 800, sprint medley, and shuttle hurdle relay teams all crossed the line first. Pella Christian’s squads finished with 29 points for the girls and 22 for the boys. The Eagle girls were led by a third place finish in the sprint medley relay. PC’s boys’ night was highlighted by taking fifth in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Selected results are posted below.
