Two Knoxville men are facing felony burglary charges for an incident earlier this month.

52-year-old Billy Glenn Smith and 38-year-old William Patrick Murphy have each been charged with 3rd degree burglary, a Class D felony.
According to court documents, Knoxville Police responding to a possible burglary in progress found Murphy and Smith hiding under a vehicle in the driveway of a residence near 7th and Madison. Murphy claimed he’d been there to retrieve some items that belonged to him from the garage and Smith said he was there to assist. An assortment of tools was discovered outside the garage door.
Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charge.
