The Eagles baseball team’s hot start to the season was stopped cold in its tracks by Des Moines Christian, as they fell 8-2 in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS. Head Coach Nate Johnson says his young team struggled to take advantage offensively and felt pressure on defense from a solid Lions squad. Josh Rolffs took the loss on the mound after giving up 5 runs in 3 1/3 innings, but did have a solo blast to left to give Pella Christian their first run. The Eagles fall to 2-1 on the season, and will next face the highly-touted Pleasantville Trojans on Monday night, a game we will also have live on 92.1 KRLS. The Eagle softball team ended things early yet again, with a 10 – 0, six-inning affair at home last night. Tessa Howerzyl had two hits and three RBIs, Chloe Dembski recorded three hits, and Emma Schnell picked up her second victory in as many games, throwing five innings of one-hit ball while striking out nine Lion batters. The Eagles are now 2 – 0, and they’ll be in a tournament today up north in Jesup.
