With a school record amount of athletes from both the boys’ and girls’ track and field programs qualifying for the state meet, Pella High is set to make some noise inside of Drake Stadium for the Class 3A meet today. Accounting for events with multiple Dutch athletes in the hunt, the ladies have 22 total opportunities for points, while the boys have 18. Coach Brent Van Hauen says from personal experience from their triumph in 2013, the more events that compete, the better.
The Lady Dutch have been solid and deep all year long, and Coach Dak Rasmussen says it’s time now for his team to shine and contend with the perennial powerhouses in 3A track. First events today begin at 9:00 a.m., featuring the girls’ shuttle hurdle relay prelims and the girls’ discus. Keep it tuned to KNIA and KRLS all day long for live reports each hour from our roving reporter in the field, Garrett Knock, live inside of Drake Stadium. Also check KNIAKRLS.com over the next five days to see full results from all of our area schools in their quest for track championships.
