The Twin Cedars’ baseball team began their defense of the Class 1A state championship with a 3 – 1 win over Southeast Warren on Wednesday. Otis Roby was on the mound for the Sabers, going the whole way with a large handful of strikeouts. Coach Matt Miller tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team manufactured runs, which may be a theme for his young squad in 2015. The Saber girls had a lead going into the bottom of the seventh, but lost it to the Warhawks, 8 – 7. Shyann DenBurger was 2-for-4 at the dish, and Marisa Lundy drove in two runs. The softball team is now 1 – 1, baseball starts off 1 – 0, and the boys are playing in a tournament at Murray today at 3:30 p.m.
