Rozenboom-KenScale

A sluggish ag economy in Iowa is already having an impact on state budgets as the House and Senate continue to battle over spending.
State Senator Ken Rozenboom says lower commodity prices and other factors on farmsteads have adversely affected tax revenue. He says the issue isn’t remedied easily through government action, so he feels that both chambers need to be cautious with spending habits in the immediate future. Currently, the Iowa Legislative Session is running past its original end date of May 1st due to a $166 million gap in spending proposals between the House, the Senate, and the Governor’s office.
